Camco Rhino Sewer Hose Adapter Pro: Complete Review & Installation Guide for RV Owners

Noticed my 2018 Forest River Cherokee's cheap sewer hose adapter keeps leaking at the connection no matter how tight I make it. The Camco Rhino Sewer Hose Adapter Pro claims it works on both threaded and non-threaded outlets with some kind of clamp system, but I'm worried about spending money on something that might not actually work reliably.

Has anyone actually used this adapter successfully? I'm particularly concerned about whether the clamp system really creates a leak-resistant seal, and if it truly eliminates the need to carry multiple adapters. My RV has a non-threaded outlet and I've had nothing but problems with adapters that don't fit securely or leak during dumping. …more

Safari Motorcoach LPG Tank Refill for Stationary RV Setup

Between my toolbox and the YouTube tutorials I've watched, I'm ready to tackle the LPG tank refill setup on my permanently parked 2000 Safari Sahar 32-footer. Since my wife and I live in California and visit several times per year to help her aging parents, the RV serves as a stationary dwelling with full hookups for shore power and water.

The challenge is that the coach won't be moved to drive to propane filling stations, so I'm exploring on-site refill options. I'm specifically interested in potentially transferring propane from a standard 40lb grill tank to our RV's fixed tank. I want to understand what type of fitting our Safari Sahar has and what safety considerations or special equipment might be required for liquid-to-liquid propane transfer.

Since we'll need heating during colder months and my wife will sometimes be at the RV without me, I want to ensure a reliable and safe refill method. What are my options for refilling the LPG tank without moving the motorcoach? …more

RV Propane Regulator Freezing Up? Common Causes & Easy Fixes

About the third time this season my propane system is acting up during cold weather prep and I'm done trying to figure this out on my own. When temperatures drop, I notice my propane regulator develops frost on it and the gas flow seems to slow down or stop completely. This makes me nervous - is this actually normal behavior or do I have a serious problem?

I'm worried about running my furnace and other propane appliances when this happens. Should I be concerned about safety? And if this freezing is normal, what's the safest way to prevent it from happening? I don't want to do anything that might make the situation worse or create a hazardous condition. …more

RV Slide Out Water Leak Repair: Complete Guide to Finding & Fixing Leaks in Your RV

Replaced my slide out seals last month but water still keeps pouring in every time it rains — am I missing something obvious here?

I've heard it could be the weatherstripping or seals, but I'm not sure how to inspect them properly or what other things might cause leaks. Could someone walk me through a systematic approach to find and fix slide out water leaks? I'd really appreciate guidance on what to check first and how to go about diagnosing the problem.

While the seals look okay visually, something clearly isn't sealing right when it rains. …more

How to Fix RV Refrigerator Door That Won't Stay Closed - 5 Best Latch

Flag Pole Mount for Tiffin Allegro 33AA Without Fixed Ladder

Spent all morning staring at my new Tiffin Allegro 33AA trying to figure out how to mount a telescopic flag pole without destroying something. My previous RV had a fixed ladder which made mounting easy and secure, but this new rig doesn't have that option.

I'm concerned about using suction cups or zip ties because they don't seem very secure, and I'm afraid the telescopic flag pole could come loose while driving and cause damage or become a road hazard. The bike rack is already occupied with our bikes, so that's not available either.

What are some safe, secure mounting options that won't damage the RV's exterior? I need something that will hold firmly during highway speeds but won't leave permanent marks or holes in my new rig. …more

Best RV Shower Wand Mounts & Hoses: Upgrade Guide 2024

I opened my RV shower and now I'm trying to decide between a basic plastic shower wand mount and a heavy-duty metal one after mine just failed completely. The original Oxygenics shower wand mount broke, and the Camco replacement I tried doesn't fit correctly and allows the wand to fall out frequently.

I'm specifically seeking recommendations for universal adjustable mounts that can accommodate standard shower wands without constant slippage or detachment issues. Additionally, the current hose is quite stiff and uncomfortable, suggesting the need for an upgrade to more flexible materials.

What are the most reliable mount and hose combinations currently available for RV shower systems? I'm interested in products with proven track records for durability and compatibility with standard RV plumbing connections. …more

60 PSI Water Pressure in RV: Is It Too High? (Expert Guide)

Found myself staring at my water pressure gauge right now and there's 60 PSI showing even though my regulator is preset to 50 PSI. This is the first time I've used this particular gauge (bought it about 6 months ago), and it immediately shot up to 60 with no way to adjust it down.

Is 60 PSI going to damage my RV's plumbing system? I'm worried because that seems high, but I'm not sure if it's actually dangerous or just at the upper limit. Could my regulator be failing, or might this new gauge be giving me a bad reading? I'm planning a trip to get a replacement tomorrow, but I want to make sure I'm addressing the right problem here. …more

How to Travel with a Winterized RV: Complete Cold Weather Guide

I noticed my travel trailer isn't winterized for my Connecticut to Florida Keys trip in February — can't afford professional service right now, need DIY solutions under $200? I'll be stopping at my brother's place in New Jersey first, and then caravaning to our first stop in Fredericksburg, VA at a KOA with a full bathhouse.

I've winterized my travel trailer for the cold months up here, and I recently heard a podcast about travelers staying winterized and using RV antifreeze for quick bathroom needs during the trip. I'm wondering if anyone has experience with this approach.

I know I could de-winterize before leaving, but I'm worried about pipes freezing during the drive south since we'll be going through some cold states. On the other hand, traveling winterized means no water systems working during the trip. What's the smartest way to handle this? Should I keep it winterized for the whole drive and deal with no water, or is there a better strategy I'm missing? …more

RV Toilet Paper: Do You Really Need Special Paper for Your RV?

Apparently I'm getting charged premium prices for special RV toilet paper for my 2025 Entegra Anthem and wondering if it's actually necessary with a macerator pump system. The RV has both macerator dump pump and macerator toilet components. I typically dump every 2-3 days at RV parks, with occasional dry camping extending to 5-day intervals before dumping.

Given the mechanical grinding action of the macerator system, I'm questioning whether RV-specific toilet paper is actually necessary. Regular household toilet paper costs significantly less than RV-branded products. My concern is potential damage to the macerator mechanism or holding tank complications.

I also want to understand if using a black tank treatment packet every few days is beneficial, and whether four toilet flushes with water is sufficient for tank maintenance. What are the technical requirements for toilet paper compatibility with macerator pump systems? Are there specific regular toilet paper brands that perform adequately, or should I continue purchasing RV-specific products for system reliability? …more

Best RV Refrigerator Door Latch Replacement Options: Complete Guide 20

According to Murphy's Law, our RV's refrigerator door latch completely gave out just days before our big family reunion trip this weekend! The plastic latch on my residential Whirlpool refrigerator door has given up the ghost, and now I'm living in constant fear of opening the door to find my condiments have taken a scenic tour of the RV floor.

I know this has to be a rite of passage for pretty much every RV owner out there. What are the best aftermarket options to replace these flimsy factory latches? I've seen magnetic catches mentioned, and Camco seems to make everything RV-related, but I'd love to hear what actually works long-term. Bonus points if it doesn't look like I jerry-rigged my fridge with whatever was lying around the campsite! …more

How to Add Electric Element to RV Water Heater While Keeping Anode Rod Intact

Three tools deep into this project and I'm determined to add electric capability to my Suburban water heater with cast iron tank myself — where's the best starting point? Problem is, most conversion kits I'm seeing want to replace the anode rod port with the heating element. That seems like a bad idea for a cast iron tank - pretty sure I need that anode rod to keep things from corroding, right?

Anyone know if there are kits out there that let you keep the anode rod? Maybe something that goes in the drain port instead, or one of those combo deals where the element also acts as an anode? Just want to make sure I'm not setting myself up for a rusty mess down the road! …more

RV Gray Tank Draining Slowly? Fix Clogs & Flow Issues

Called around to shops about my 2019 Forest River Cherokee's gray tank drain crawling—what used to take 5-10 minutes now drags on for 30-45 minutes. The black tank still drains at normal speed, so I don't think it's a problem with the main sewer connection or hose.

I'm wondering what typically causes gray tanks to develop drainage problems over time. We do a lot of dishwashing in the RV and I'm thinking maybe grease or soap buildup could be creating blockages somewhere in the system. The flow starts out okay but quickly reduces to just a trickle, even though I know there's still plenty of water in the tank.

What are the most common culprits behind slow gray tank drainage, and what's the best approach for diagnosing and fixing these flow issues? I'd rather understand the root causes and proper solutions before I start taking things apart or using harsh chemicals that might damage the system. …more

5 Best RV Sewer Hose Replacements for Presto-Fit Users (2024 Guide)

Noticed my Presto-Fit sewer hose replacement keeps disconnecting at the worst possible moments even though I installed it last week. After 20 blissful years with my trusty Presto-Fit sewer hose, it finally gave up the ghost. Of course, now that I need a replacement, they're nowhere to be found. It's like losing your favorite pair of underwear – you never realize how good you had it until it's gone!

I keep seeing names like Camco RhinoFLEX, Valterra Dominator, and Lippert Waste Master thrown around, but honestly, I'm drowning in options and contradictory reviews. Some people swear by thick-wall hoses, others talk about cam-lock vs bayonet fittings, and don't even get me started on the cold-weather flexibility debate.

What are the real top alternatives for us displaced Presto-Fit refugees? I need something reliable that won't leave me literally knee-deep in regret during my next dump station adventure! …more

RV Sewer Hose Without Fittings: Where to Buy Bulk Hose & Replacement Options

I turned on my Class A RV this morning and discovered my 5' Camco Extreme Flex sewer hose is leaking badly everywhere. I've used multiple hoses across 5 different Class A motorhomes, and the Camco Extreme Flex has been the best, but now I'm struggling with a leak I can't seem to fix.

I keep striking out trying to find just the hose portion without fittings since I already have good fittings I can reuse from my existing 5' and 15' hoses. I don't want to go to a thinner hose with steel reinforcing. I'd ideally buy a 20' length and make a new 5' hose, keeping the remainder for future replacements.

I'm concerned - is buying bulk hose even safe for RV waste systems? Are there any reliable sources, or am I taking risks with industrial hose that wasn't meant for this? What are my safest options without having to buy complete kits with fittings I don't need? …more
