According to three different RV shops, fixing my bubbling sidewall delamination will cost thousands, but I'm wondering if tackling this DIY repair myself is actually feasible. My 2004 Itasca Sunova has decided to sprout some lovely blisters on the right sidewall - two beauties that are about 12-14 inches long and 3-4 inches wide, running vertically right behind the awning arm. Perfect timing since we're currently on the road living our best RV life!

I'm pretty sure water snuck in somewhere (probably from the roof rail or that shower skylight we never use), and now my RV looks like it's got chicken pox. Woke up to my 2003 Itasca Spirit with Ford E-450 V10 chassis doing something bizarre — engine purrs like a kitten but zero RPM showing on dashboard. The dash doesn't have a factory tachometer, but I'd really like to monitor RPMs when towing and climbing hills.

What are the best aftermarket tachometer options for this setup? Looking for specific mounting solutions and wiring connections that work with the E-450's electrical system. …more

Standing in my 2016 Itasca Navion 24G, I discovered the previous owner left me with a completely shot Norcold N3150 refrigerator. The fridge is struggling big time in hot weather, with temperature swings up to 50-60F, and I'm tired of playing refrigerator roulette every trip. I'm running 200W of solar and 2 Golf Cart 6V batteries, and I do a lot of driving through Southern California deserts where temperatures hit 110F.

Been doing some research and keep seeing two main options - the NovaKool RFU6406D with dual compressors, or sticking with absorption and going with something like the Norcold N2175. I'm particularly interested in a setup that'll keep things cold when it's scorching outside and provide reliable cooling performance.

What's the real-world difference between these two approaches, and which one's gonna give me better performance in those extreme desert heat situations? …more

Standing in front of my 2022 Fleetwood Frontier 36ss after following every YouTube tutorial on fixing body roll, I somehow made the swaying and corner instability even worse. The difference is really noticeable compared to my previous RV, a 2016 Itasca 34H that had Bilstein shocks and handled much more smoothly with minimal body roll.

I'm considering investing about $1200 in Koni shocks as an upgrade, thinking they might solve this handling issue. However, I want to make sure I'm spending my money on the right solution. Will upgrading to Koni shocks actually reduce the body roll I'm experiencing, or should I be looking at other suspension modifications? Pulled every trick in the book — replaced all five driver side ignition coils, swapped the PCM, checked every connection — my 1999 Itasca Sunflyer V10 still throws codes P0356, P0357, P0358, P0359, P0360. Running on 5 cylinders only.

Tested +12v at each coil connector - all good. Tested for ground pulse during cranking - nothing on drivers side, but passenger side coils pulse normally. No visible wiring damage found.

Does this testing confirm PCM failure in the ground switching circuit? Seems unlikely all 5 coils failed simultaneously. …more

During routine checks, my 2000 Itasca Suncruiser's 6-pin dash blower quick disconnect keeps mysteriously cooking itself — ground and power terminals showing heat damage every few months. The connector carries full blower motor current - around 20+ amps - instead of just switching a relay like newer designs.

Standard automotive quick disconnects I find are only rated for low amperage. What type of connector or terminals should I use to handle the high current load without failing again? …more

Black tank sensors have been reading 2/3 full for the last six months even right after dumping and flushing. Tried every sensor cleaning trick on YouTube — ice cubes, driving around, enzyme treatments — and nothing changes the reading. Ready to just replace the whole sensor assembly. …more

I replaced the cruise control contact ring on my 2000 Itasca's F53 chassis twice now — would this repair be covered under extended warranty? I've discovered it uses some kind of 3-pin contact ring system under the steering wheel instead of a proper clock spring (because of course Ford had to be different).

I'm pretty sure one of the contacts looks bent - either from age or from me aggressively mashing buttons trying to get it to work like some kind of RV caveman. Before I start taking apart my steering wheel and inevitably lose three screws that apparently don't exist anywhere else in the universe, does anyone know if these contact rings can actually be repaired? Can you just straighten bent contacts, or am I looking at replacing the whole thing? …more

Finally ready to tackle these electrical gremlins in my 2000 Harney Riata diesel pusher — but would this engine compartment wiring mess be covered under my extended warranty? The power distribution panel mounted on the firewall (driver's side) has several connections that look questionable after sitting in storage all winter.

I can see terminals marked for things like generator start, leveling pump, chassis main, and house 12V power. There's also a Sure Power battery isolator (Model 1322) and what appears to be a 150-amp breaker with a large battery disconnect relay. Some of the connections have corrosion and I want to clean everything up properly before our first trip.

Does anyone have access to factory wiring diagrams or service documentation for this setup? I'm particularly interested in proper fuse ratings and how the isolator should be wired. Any Harney/Winnebago documentation from that era would be incredibly helpful since I want to make sure I don't create bigger problems while fixing the small ones. …more
