Halfway through a cross-country trip, my Ford F53 Class A motorhome with the 7.5L V8 cranks but won't fire, has zero spark, AND left me completely stranded. I've systematically replaced the distributor, ignition control module (ICM), and coil, but the no-spark condition persists. This is an EFI system without a crank position sensor - my research indicates it relies on the pickup coil within the distributor for ignition timing.

Despite having electrical work done on my 1999 Ford F53 motorhome, the speedometer has been permanently stuck at 60 km/h regardless of actual driving speed. The gauge reads accurately up to 60 km/h but then just stays pegged there no matter how fast I'm actually going. I'm worried this could be dangerous since I can't tell my real speed on highways.

Around 30 years into owning my 1995 Ford F53 with the 460 7.5L engine, I'm completely lost trying to locate the EGR and PCV valves. There are two valves that I can't identify - I'm pretty sure they're related to emissions control based on where they're located, but I'm not certain.

I think one might be an EGR valve and the other could be a PCV valve, but honestly I'm not confident in my identification. Should these valves be making any noise during normal operation? Our 2019 Ford F53 V10 motorhome chassis develops that same annoying oil filler cap problem every spring when we're getting ready for camping season. The oil filler cap has gone missing (seems to be a common issue based on what I've read), and I'm discovering that finding a replacement is much more complicated than expected. When I try to look up parts using my VIN on various Ford parts websites, I keep getting errors saying the VIN cannot be found or that the part isn't available through normal channels.

From my research, it appears this isn't just a standard oil cap - it's apparently a special extension oil filler cap with part number EC794. This makes sense given the engine bay layout on these chassis, but it's making the replacement process much more difficult. Regular auto parts stores don't seem to carry anything that fits properly, and even Ford dealerships are having trouble locating the correct part.

Woke up this morning hoping my 1995 F53 motorhome with the 460 7.5L would run smooth after replacing the ignition control module yesterday, but it's still stalling randomly. It keeps stalling every time I come to a stop - literally dies on me at around 5mph just as I'm braking. The power steering goes out and it's a real struggle to get stopped safely.

I can restart it immediately and it runs fine as long as I keep giving it gas, but this happens at EVERY stop sign and red light. Currently, it won't start at all - just cranks with no spark. I previously had an EGR code 334 that went away after replacing the EVR sensor.

My fuel pressure gauge was showing 30-32 psi at idle and about 40 psi at wide open throttle. When I tested the vacuum line on the fuel pressure regulator, no fuel spilled out and the pressure didn't change.

I've already replaced many parts (including distributor cap, plugs, wires, EGR valve, ICM, fuel pressure regulator) with only 2,000 miles on them. I discovered that swapping the ignition control module seems to temporarily fix the issue - it starts with a new ICM but dies when I return to the original one.

I'm really concerned about potential highway driving with these intermittent starting problems. Is this a common issue with these 460 engines? …more
