Apparently my 2000 Allegro Bus slideout only starts sagging and needing floor repair when it hits 85 degrees outside — works perfectly fine otherwise. We discovered water damage under the slideout and need to replace some plywood subflooring, but there are screws I can only access if I lift the slide somehow.

I'm worried about damaging the slideout mechanism or worse, having it fall and hurt someone. The hydraulic system seems to work fine, but I've heard you shouldn't trust it alone for this kind of work. I noticed it's 2 AM and my Ford motorhome transmission just started making awful grinding noises — need to figure out if it's the 4R70W or E4OD before hitting the road tomorrow. I'm converting a half ton pickup into a motorhome and want 4x4 capability. I keep seeing references to different 4-speed automatic transmissions like the 4R70W, E4OD, and 4R100, but I'm honestly confused about which is which and what the differences are.

I'm trying to figure out which transmission would be most reliable for my needs. Some people mention the 4R70W while others swear by the E4OD or 4R100. Do these vary by year or engine size? And is there a clear winner in terms of dependability, especially for someone who might be doing some towing and converting a pickup?

Checked voltage at the outlets near my slides and it's reading 40 volts instead of 120. Every other outlet in the coach reads normal. Slides were working fine yesterday and now they won't budge. Something is seriously wrong with the wiring in that section. …more

Since this is the third time this season my 4x4 RV's transmission is acting up, I'm done throwing parts at it without proper filter service knowledge. I've got a 4x4 RV with a 4R100 transmission (2003 V10) that's due for service. I'm wondering if there's anything different about servicing the transmission filter on a 4x4 versus a regular 2WD setup?

Also, since I'm getting under there anyway, should I be thinking about servicing other components while I'm at it? Don't want to miss anything important that could bite me later down the road. Thanks for any guidance! …more
