Ford E450 Inertia Switch Location Guide - Find Your RV's Fuel Cutoff Reset Point

Ford E450 Inertia Switch Location Guide - Find Your RV's Fuel Cutoff Reset Point

Every Ford E450 I've worked on had the inertia switch behind the driver's panel — but my 2011 Freedom Elite 32r has it hidden somewhere completely different. The engine is experiencing what appears to be fuel delivery issues after a minor fender bender, and I suspect the inertia switch may have been triggered and needs to be reset.

I've already done extensive searching in the typical locations - removed both driver and passenger side kick panels completely, pulled out the glove box, and even partially disassembled sections of the dashboard. Despite checking all these common spots where Ford usually places these switches, I'm coming up empty-handed.

Could the switch be integrated into another component on this particular year and model? Are there any alternative locations specific to the E450 chassis or Freedom Elite configuration that I should be checking? I'm also wondering if some models of this year might not have a traditional standalone inertia switch at all. …more

Atwood GC6AA-10E Replacement Guide: Compatible Water Heaters & Installation Tips

Atwood GC6AA-10E water heater finally died after 18 years and I need a direct replacement that'll bolt right into the same cutout without modifications. Every RV parts site shows different "compatible" models and I'm not confident any of them actually fit. What drops right in? …more

How to Fix Peeling RV Seat Upholstery: Repair Options & Costs

Last time I looked at my 2013 Georgetown 335DS front seats there's faux leather flaking off everywhere like the outer layer is just disintegrating. I've tried conditioning treatments but nothing seems to help.

I'm hoping this isn't going to be a huge expense, but I need to know my realistic options here. Should I expect any warranty coverage on something like this, or am I on my own? I've heard about seat covers, reupholstery, or maybe even replacing the whole seats, but I have no idea what any of this costs or what makes the most sense.

What's causing this deterioration in the first place, and what are people actually doing to fix it? I need real solutions with honest cost expectations - this RV is otherwise perfect and I don't want crumbling seats ruining the whole experience. …more

Ford V10 Oil Capacity: How Much Oil Does Your Newmar Bay Star Really Need?

Since I'm about to buy oil for my 2011 Newmar Bay Star with the Ford V10 engine but keep seeing conflicting capacity numbers — worth getting extra or just wasting money? Classic RV owner move, right?

I keep finding conflicting information online - some sources say 6 quarts, others say 7 quarts for the Ford V10. After my oil change, I'm sitting here staring at my dipstick like it's written in hieroglyphics, wondering if I've turned my engine into a swimming pool or left it high and dry. The manual isn't exactly crystal clear on this either.

Can someone please tell me the ACTUAL oil capacity for this engine? I'd rather not blow up my motor because I can't figure out basic maintenance on my rolling money pit! …more

2011 Ford F-53 ABS Module Rebuild - Where to Get it Done

Already found a rebuilt ABS module for my 2011 Ford F-53 chassis but wondering if these rebuilds are actually reliable or just expensive Band-Aids? Ford discontinued these modules and they're not available from parts suppliers anymore. My shop says the only option is getting the existing module rebuilt. Are ABS module rebuilds actually reliable for the F-53? Where can I get this service done? …more

How to Replace Rear ABS Sensor on Heavy Duty RV Chassis - Complete Guide & Tips

How to Replace Rear ABS Sensor on Heavy Duty RV Chassis - Complete Guide & Tips

Looked forward to spring camping season prep on my 2011 Ford F53 22,000 lbs GVWR RV, but that damn ABS light killed my inspection plans again. I'm trying to figure out where exactly the rear ABS sensor is located, specifically on these heavy duty chassis. I found a RockAuto part (WELLS 5S12339) that seems specific to my 2011 model.

I see there's one sensor at each rear wheel. I've already removed a small screw, but I'm unsure about next steps. Do I need to remove the wheel, drum, or bearing to access the sensor? There seems to be a metal cap over it that's complicating things.

Any advice on accessing and replacing this sensor, especially dealing with potentially rusty mounting hardware? I haven't found clear guidance on YouTube or IRV2.com for my specific setup. …more

Texas Class B Test with Unregistered 2011 Thomas School Bus

Halfway through prepping for my Texas Class B road test tomorrow, my neighbor insists my unregistered 2011 Thomas Built school bus is fine, the DMV demands current registration, but online converters claim they passed with expired tags.

I really want to use my bus for the test since I know it well and it's got air brakes - definitely want that endorsement! The bus is fully insured and I've got the commercial one-way permit it was driven here on, but I can't get anyone at DPS on the phone to confirm if they'll even let me take the test. Anyone know if Texas DPS will accept a vehicle that's not properly registered yet, or am I setting myself up for a headache? …more

1999 Monaco LaPalma Front Run Bay Control Panel #166-2011

My 1999 Monaco LaPalma's front run bay control panel #166-2011 had something completely new on it this morning that wasn't there yesterday. I have a 1999 Monaco LaPalma on an F53 chassis, and the front run bay control panel has stopped working completely. From what I can tell, the part number I need is #166-2011.

I've been searching online but I'm not having much luck finding this specific control panel. Are these parts still available anywhere, or am I out of luck since it's such an older unit? Also, is there anything special I should know about compatibility or installation for my particular chassis? Any advice would be really appreciated! …more

Ford F53 Motorhome Drag Link Replacement Guide (1999-2008) - Parts & Compatibility Tips

I'm planning my F53 motorhome maintenance when it started making clunking sounds turning yesterday, and crawling underneath revealed my drag link from steering box to left knuckle completely failed. Classic!

I've been hunting for parts and of course the 1999-2008 drag links seem to have vanished into thin air on sites like RockAuto. But lo and behold, I found a 2009 Motorcraft MDOE35 drag link available. My optimistic side is thinking "close enough, right?" but my wallet (and my safety) are wondering if I'm being too hopeful.

Will this 2009 part actually work on my 1999 F53, or am I setting myself up for another one of those "seemed like a good idea at the time" RV moments? Any wisdom on where to actually find the right part for us pre-2009 folks? …more

Fleetwood Jamboree Battery Not Charging on Shore Power Fix

Noticed my 2011 Fleetwood Jamboree 28Z is eating through my new 6-volt house batteries way faster than it should, even when plugged into shore power. When I first connected them, they showed a healthy 13.2 volts. However, I've noticed the voltage steadily declining over the past few days and it's now reading 12.2 volts. The concerning part is that when I plug into shore power, my multimeter shows absolutely no change in battery voltage - it stays at 12.2v whether plugged in or not. I'm trying to figure out if the charging is supposed to happen through the inverter/charger unit or if there's a separate converter that handles this. The batteries are definitely good since they're brand new, so I suspect something in the charging circuit has failed. Any guidance on troubleshooting this would be greatly appreciated. …more
