Somewhere between last month's slightly low oil pressure reading on my '91 Ford E350 460 engine and today's complete engine knocking, I'm thinking this oil pump is finally dying.

Here's the weird part - oil pressure gauge sits really low (like concerningly low) but the temp gauge never even hits the middle, stays cool as a cucumber. She runs like a total champ though, starts every time, smooth as butter, pulls hills no problem. Just hit 99k miles and put about 7k on her this year with zero issues performance-wise.

Everything I'm reading online says oil pump problems usually show up as low pressure AND high temps together. But I've got low pressure with low temps, which seems backwards? Had one moment recently where the oil pressure suddenly jumped to normal mid-range after smelling some hot oil at a gas stop. According to what I spotted this morning, my 2001 Fleetwood Discovery has black patches creeping up the walls that definitely weren't there yesterday after three years of full-timing. Planning total interior demolition - walls, ceilings, floors, cabinets, everything except the fridge.

Detailed rebuild plan includes:

- White subway porcelain flooring with epoxy grout
- White plastic ceiling sheeting
- Dark stained pine shiplap walls
- Custom cabinets
- Furniture from Seats4less (U-shaped dinette), Amazon (queen sofa bed), Home Depot (loft bunk)
- Madico mirror finish security film on windows
- Comprehensive mold treatment before rebuilding

Never tackled anything this extensive before. What are the most critical structural and safety considerations I need to prioritize during this complete rebuild? Want to make sure I don't compromise anything important while upgrading everything. …more

Pulled the trigger on a 2012 Thor Avanti repo as my first RV purchase, but I'm completely clueless about what condition red flags to look for. The interior is... let's call it "lived in" to be charitable. The U-shaped dinette looks like it hosted a wrestling match, and I'm pretty sure something died in those cushions.

I'm wondering if I can swap out that sad dinette for a jackknife sofa instead? And don't get me started on the flooring - it's so worn I can practically see through to the ground. Is it realistic to replace RV flooring, or am I signing up for a special kind of torture?

Oh, and can I ditch whatever prehistoric mattress is in there for a real full-size one? Basically, is renovating a Thor Avanti actually doable, or should I just keep scrolling through RV listings and pretend this hot mess doesn't exist? …more
