How to Store LiFePO4 Batteries in Winter: RV Cold Weather Battery Guide

Somewhere along the way, the previous owner of my newly purchased RV completely abandoned proper winter storage for these LiFePO4 batteries through multiple harsh seasons. My battery documentation shows a storage temperature range of 14° to 122°, which concerns me since Spokane winter temperatures tend to drop within 10° of zero.

The batteries are currently located under the entry steps, and I'm considering three options:
1) Leave batteries in the coach and risk potential damage like case cracking
2) Install heating pads or battery blankets
3) Remove and store batteries indoors

I'm leaning towards removing the batteries indoors, but I'd appreciate input from those with experience. Can anyone talk me out of this approach or confirm it as the best strategy? …more

Winnebago EKKO Shore Power & Water Leak Fix - Expert Guide

After discovering shore power and water leak issues in my brand new 2025 Winnebago EKKO, I'm trying to decide between returning it or tackling the repairs myself. First, when I connect to shore power, the batteries aren't charging at all and there's an 'OPEN GRD' warning on the transfer switch. The shore power connection shows a red G light with green L and N lights. Second, there's water dripping right above the driver's seat coming from somewhere in the plastic overhead area between the left storage compartment and the TV mount. We have a cross-country family trip planned next month and I need to know if it's safe to travel with these problems. The battery issue is preventing me from running the generator when the coach battery gets too low. Is this something I can fix myself or do I need to head straight back to the dealer? …more

How to Fix Parasitic Battery Drain in 2006 Damon Challenger RV: Complete Troubleshooting Guide

I found three different "experts" telling me three different causes for my 2006 Damon Challenger's parasitic battery drain - neighbor blames the converter, dealer says bad fuse, YouTube points to inverter. I've traced it to the instrument cluster fuse, and Thor doesn't have schematics for this model due to its age.

I'm not even sure if it's actually the instrument cluster itself or something connected to it - could it be the transmission temp sensor, engine temp sensor, or other wiring? I really don't want to damage anything expensive or create a safety hazard. What's the safest way to diagnose and fix this without causing more problems? I'd feel much better with a step-by-step approach that won't leave me stranded or worse. …more

Kwikee Steps Won't Extend: Complete Troubleshooting & Repair Guide

Every time I open my RV door these Kwikee steps stay stuck at 90% retracted — should I drop $300+ on replacements or try fixing first?

I'm pretty sure this is either a motor that's given up the ghost or something's binding up in the linkage, but I'd love some confirmation before I start throwing parts at it. Should I be checking for 12V at the motor first, or am I overthinking this? And while we're at it, any preventive maintenance I should do to keep this from happening again? Because apparently my RV has commitment issues with working components. …more

2021 Ford E-350 I-Beam Axle Pivot Bushing Wear at 36K Miles

Last week my wife casually mentioned our 2021 Ford E-350 makes creaking noises when turning and now I can't stop hearing those worn I-beam axle pivot bushings failing at just 36K miles. The passenger side tire was wearing really badly on the outside edge, and when I took it in, they found that both I-beam axle pivot bushings were worn out and needed replacement.

What's got me worried is that this happened at only 36,000 miles - that seems really early to me for bushings to fail? The RV is a 2021 model and I did have the rear raised 3/4 inch when I first bought it. Could that modification have caused this problem, or is this just normal wear for these Ford chassis? I'm trying to figure out if I should expect more issues like this or if this was just bad luck. …more

RV Electric Steps Won't Retract - Sensor Location & Fix

Before I could even get out of the campground, my RV's electric steps won't auto-retract when starting the engine, they're stuck extended, AND only the manual button works. The steps still work fine otherwise - they extend and retract when I use the switch.

I'm thinking it's probably a sensor issue since the motor and mechanism work fine. Where is the ignition sensor located and how do I check if it's working? Is there a specific wire I should be looking at? …more

2007 Dyna Max IE250 Air Ride Electrical Manual Location

2007 Dyna Max IE250 Air Ride Electrical Manual Location

According to my bank account, this 2007 Dyna Max IE250 air ride electrical manual hunt is eating through my repair budget faster than I can earn it. I've been dealing with some electrical issues and really need the wiring diagrams and troubleshooting procedures, but I can't seem to find this documentation anywhere online.

I've already tried the usual RV manual sites and even contacted a few local dealers, but nobody seems to have specific electrical documentation for the Dyna Air Ride system that was installed on these units. This is supposedly a premium suspension system, so you'd think the manuals would be easier to track down!

Does anyone know where I can actually get my hands on the electrical manual for this air ride system? I'm willing to pay for it at this point - I just need to get this thing working properly again. …more

Open Roads EFS Fuel Card Loves App Not Working - Quick Fix Guide

This is driving me crazy — my neighbor's Open Roads EFS fuel card works flawlessly in the Loves app but mine throws "Entry Mode not allowed" errors every time. I'm afraid I might be doing something wrong or that my card is damaged somehow.

The physical card still swipes fine at the pump dispenser, but I'm concerned about whether I should keep attempting to use the app or if that might cause problems with my account. Has anyone else experienced this issue? I don't want to mess anything up further, but I also don't understand why the app suddenly stopped working when it used to be fine. …more

Power Gear Hydraulic Leveling Pump Noise - Causes & Fixes

Our 2016 Dynamax Force's Power Gear hydraulic leveling system started making way more noise than usual after those heavy Colorado storms hit last week. The pump noise has gotten noticeably worse over the past few months. I did change the hydraulic fluid last year using the full synthetic that Power Gear specifies, but the noise keeps increasing. The system still levels fine, but I'm concerned about what's causing the excessive pump noise and whether I need to address this before it becomes a bigger problem. Anyone dealt with similar issues on these Power Gear units? …more

RV Entry Steps Motor Won't Stop Running - Quick Fix Guide

Every fix I've tried — replaced the relay, cleaned the limit switches, checked the wiring harness — but my 2016 Coachman Mirada 35BH entry steps motor still won't stop running. Everything works perfectly when the engine is running - steps extend smoothly when I open the door and retract properly when closed. But now when the engine is off and I'm leaving the RV, the step motor won't stop running. The steps extend to full position but the motor keeps grinding away. Same thing happens in reverse - they retract fully but the motor continues operating. This just started after our recent camping trip. While we were plugged into shore power at the campground, no problems at all. But as soon as I got home, parked in the driveway and shut off the engine, this continuous motor issue began. I'm still learning about RV systems as a new owner, so any guidance would be much appreciated. …more
