RC7-GS Inverter AGM Battery Settings: Complete Setup Guide

Replaced my 105Ah AGM battery and now my RC7-GS inverter charger is completely rejecting it like this capacity doesn't exist in its programming.

The charging settings only go from 125Ah up to 1000Ah, with an 'auto' option that supposedly 'learns' my battery but resets every time the low voltage cutoff trips (which feels like cheating, honestly). I'm worried about undercharging or cooking my expensive new AGMs if I pick the wrong setting.

Oh, and while we're talking about things that don't work as advertised - the generator auto-start feature might as well be a myth. Can't even manually start the generator from the RC7 panel. At this point I'm wondering if I should have just stuck with my old setup that actually worked! Anyone know what I'm doing wrong here? …more

RV Battery Draining Overnight? Find & Fix Parasitic Drain

The day after I installed that new solar charge controller last month, my RV batteries started mysteriously draining from fully charged to completely dead overnight. I've already confirmed that all visible lights, fans, and appliances are turned off, and I've switched off the main interior power, but something is still drawing power continuously. I understand this is likely a parasitic drain where some component or circuit is staying energized when it shouldn't be, but I'm not sure how to systematically track down which specific circuit is causing the problem. I have a basic multimeter but I'm not entirely sure about the proper methodology for testing each circuit individually to isolate where exactly the power draw is coming from. What's the step-by-step process for using a multimeter to methodically work through the electrical system, starting from the main disconnect and testing individual fuses or circuits until I can pinpoint the exact source of this parasitic drain? …more

Winnebago EKKO Shore Power & Water Leak Fix - Expert Guide

After discovering shore power and water leak issues in my brand new 2025 Winnebago EKKO, I'm trying to decide between returning it or tackling the repairs myself. First, when I connect to shore power, the batteries aren't charging at all and there's an 'OPEN GRD' warning on the transfer switch. The shore power connection shows a red G light with green L and N lights. Second, there's water dripping right above the driver's seat coming from somewhere in the plastic overhead area between the left storage compartment and the TV mount. We have a cross-country family trip planned next month and I need to know if it's safe to travel with these problems. The battery issue is preventing me from running the generator when the coach battery gets too low. Is this something I can fix myself or do I need to head straight back to the dealer? …more

AGM Battery Deep Discharge Damage - East Penn 6V Recovery

Looked inside my battery compartment and immediately hit with that acrid sulfur smell - my East Penn 6V AGM batteries are completely dead after a deep discharge. Last July, I installed six East Penn 6V house batteries and set the Magnum remote to AGM type. Left my coach at a shop for 2.5 weeks and came back to completely dead batteries - we're talking 8V dead, folks. Nothing worked: steps, lights, even my fancy electric shades decided to take a permanent nap. Chassis batteries were still okay.

After plugging in at home, the Magnum charger went through its whole song and dance - bulk charging at 100A, then eventually settled into float at 13.2V. When I unplugged and fired up the generator briefly, voltage dropped from 13.0V to 12.7V.

So here's my million-dollar question: did my deep discharge adventure turn these batteries into expensive paperweights, or do these voltage readings suggest they might have survived my negligence? I'm cautiously optimistic but honestly have no idea what signs indicate whether AGM batteries bounced back from the dead or are just pretending to be okay! …more

Outback VFX2812M Inverter No AC Power: Complete Troubleshooting Guide for RV Owners

Our 2017 Prevost coach's Outback VFX2812M inverter/charger died completely and my wife keeps asking why nothing electrical works anymore. The unit appears to be getting power since the cooling fan kicks on and runs, and when connected to shore power, 120VAC passes through just fine. However, when I disconnect from shore power and shut down the generator, the inverter completely fails to produce any AC power output.

What's particularly concerning is that the MATE digital controller inside the coach never powers on - the display remains completely blank with no indicator lights whatsoever. I have a brand new 12VDC battery bank, so I don't believe it's a battery issue. I've already tried disconnecting both AC and DC connections and reconnecting them, but aside from the fan running for about a minute during startup, nothing else happens.

I'm wondering if there might be internal fuses within the VFX2812M that I should be checking, and also whether the blank MATE controller display might be related to the same underlying problem. What are the most likely culprits when you have fan operation but no inverter function and no controller display? …more

RV Cabinet Makers & Repair Shops Near Jayco Middlebury, Indiana - Local Resources

Apparently I need to check if my Jayco warranty covers cabinet repairs before I start tearing into these furniture issues myself. I have a Jayco motorhome and need a custom dinette built to replace the original one. I'm wondering if Jayco builds their cabinets in-house at their factory, or if they contract out to local shops?

More importantly, I'm looking for recommendations on where I can get this work done. Are there independent cabinet shops in the Elkhart-Middlebury area that specialize in RV woodwork? I have all the detailed dimensions from Jayco and am hoping someone can share contact information for local cabinet builders who might be able to help. Any advice or contact details for reputable RV cabinet makers in that area would be really appreciated! …more
