Ford F53 Chassis Firewall Wiring: Finding Brake LED Through-Holes

Opened up my 2022 Holiday Rambler 36DB for spring prep and once again I'm staring at my 2021 Ford F53 chassis firewall wondering where those brake LED through-holes are hiding. I need to run the brake indicator LED wire from my toad to the dashboard inside the motorhome, but I'm having trouble locating the best firewall penetration point.

Rather than drilling a new hole through the firewall (which I'd prefer to avoid for obvious reasons), I'm hoping to find an existing through-hole or grommet that I can utilize. I've heard that Ford F53 chassis typically have several factory access points, but I'm not sure exactly where to look or which ones would be most suitable for this type of low-voltage wiring installation.

Can anyone provide specific guidance on where to find existing firewall through-holes on the F53 chassis that would work well for routing brake indicator wiring? I want to make sure I'm using an appropriate location that won't interfere with existing systems and will provide a clean, professional installation. …more

Motorhome vs Toy Hauler Electrical Systems: Complete Comparison Guide

Walked into three dealerships with my $40k budget and they're all pushing different electrical setups — can't afford to buy wrong between motorhome vs toy hauler power systems. Currently I have a 2020 F350 diesel SRW with a Reflection 29rs toy hauler, and I'm comparing a Grand Design Lineage 31ZW Super C motorhome versus a Momentum 381MS toy hauler.

The toy hauler I'm considering comes with serious electrical upgrades - 2 heated 400Ah lithium batteries with internal BMS, dual 3,000kVA inverters, four 300W bifacial solar panels, dual 50A solar controllers, and 60A DC-DC truck charging. Currently, to transport my side-by-side (SxS), I need two trucks and two trailers, which is inefficient.

I'm weighing pros and cons like overall length (truck and toy hauler would be about 60', MH and 20' cargo trailer would be about 57'), maintenance costs of keeping two diesel trucks, and transportation flexibility. I also have an F150 that could potentially serve as a toad vehicle.

What experiences can others share about transitioning between these RV types, especially considering power management and transportation logistics? …more

2016 Winnebago Vista 29V Tow Harness 12V Fuse Location

Before yesterday my 2016 Winnebago Vista 29V's tow harness started getting zero 12V power and now I can't locate which fuse controls the F53 chassis feed. The towed vehicle's brake system has lost power, and I've confirmed the issue is upstream from the 7-pin connector.

I've checked the obvious interior fuse panels but cannot locate the circuit that feeds constant 12V to the tow harness. The chassis and coach manuals don't clearly identify which fuse position controls this circuit. Can someone provide the exact fuse box location and position number for the tow harness 12V feed on this specific model? …more

Dutch Star TPMS Not Working - Repair vs Replace Guide

Found out my 2020 Dutch Star 3736 TPMS system isn't getting any tire pressure readings at all. The dealer quoted me $800+ to diagnose and potentially replace the whole system, which seems steep for what should be a monitoring system. I'm towing a 2022 Jeep Trailhawk and already have an aftermarket E-ZTire system for the toad that works great. The onboard TPMS display shows nothing - no pressures from any of the six coach tires. From what I can tell, these aren't the simple valve stem sensors you can swap out easily, but rather internal sensors that require tire dismounting. Before I drop serious money at the dealer, wondering if there's a simpler fix I'm missing or if I should just bite the bullet and install an aftermarket system for the whole rig. …more
